Day / half-day trips

Join us for a gentle exploratory paddle around the stunning local coastline. All equipment and basic instruction is provided, and wildlife sightings are highly likely.
Dates: available every day, but please contact us in advance (ideally at least a couple of weeks) to check it’s running and there are spaces on the day you want

Introduction to Sea Kayaking – 2 day course
£180
Aimed at those who have never kayaked, or who have tried it on holiday or at school and want to learn more. Two days of fundamental skills in calm waters, while enjoying journeys through stunning scenery.
Dates: 13/14 April, 27/28 April, 18/19 May, 8/9 June, 20/21 June, 29/30 June, 8/9 July, 20/21 July, 10/11 August, 31 August / 1st September

Introduction to Sea Kayaking – 5 day course
£410
Aimed at those who have never kayaked, or who have tried it on holiday or at school and want to learn more. The course will start with fundamental skills, including an introduction to tides and trip planning, and will build up to an overnight expedition.
Dates: 6-10 May, 10-14 June, 22-26 July, 19-23 August

Improver Sea Kayaking – 2 day course
£180
For paddlers who have spent a few days on the water, and now want to improve their skills. We will start to head out into slightly more exposed waters, learning to deal with wind and waves. This course is also suitable for whitewater paddlers wishing to try sea kayaking.
Dates: 4/5 May, 16/17 May, 15/16 June, 24/25 June *, 13/14 July, 29/30 July *, 24/25 August, 2/3 September *
Dates marked with a * can be combined with a 3-day expedition on the days immediately following, to form a 5-day course costing £410.

Confidence builder weekend – 2 day course
£180
Specially designed to help you get back into the swing of things at the start of the season. If you haven’t paddled much over the cold winter months, this refresher weekend will set you up for the summer. It can also act as a “paddling MOT” if you’d like to set yourself some paddling goals for the year.

Introduction to Expedition skills – 3 day course
£250
Making the move from day trips to expeditions can feel like a whole new world of planning and equipment. We’ll cover everything from choosing a route to packing a boat, from finding a campsite to cooking the perfect dinner. And of course we’ll do it by going on a journey through some spectacular scenery.
Dates: 25-27 May

Intermediate Sea Kayaking – 2 day course
£180
Aimed at paddlers wanting to move into more challenging conditions, and improve their boat handling. The focus will be on using skills in context while journeying, including navigation and tidal planning aspects. Exact conditions will depend on the weather, but participants should be comfortable in winds of around F3 and waves of around 0.75-1m.
Dates: 23/24 May, 1/2 June, 27/28 July, 7/8 September

Advanced / Tidal Sea Kayaking – 2 day course
£240
Using the fantastic range of tidal locations right on our doorstep, this course allows paddlers to push their skills in challenging waters. Paddlers should be comfortable in waves of up to 1m, including experience of launching & landing in surf. Numbers for this course are capped at 4.

Open Expeditions

Exact destinations for expeditions will depend on the weather and tidal conditions – but please let us know when you book if you have any particular preferences and we will do our best to accommodate them. Food is not included on expeditions. Camping equipment is available for a small additional charge.

2-day Explorer expedition
£180
For paddlers who have spent around 3-5 days on the water, and are capable of paddling 10-15km per day. This would be suitable as someone’s first kayak expedition, even if you have no camping experience. Possible destinations include Lismore, Luing, Kerrera, Seil, Loch Etive.
Dates: 11/12 May, 22/23 June, 17/18 August

3-day Explorer expedition
£250
For paddlers who have spent around 3-5 days on the water, and are capable of paddling 10-15km per day for 3 consecutive days. This would be suitable as someone’s first kayak expedition, though we would recommend you have some previous camping experience. Possible destinations include Lismore, the Inner Hebrides, Mull, Gigha.
These courses can be combined with a 2-day Improver course on the days immediately preceding, to form a 5-day course costing £410
Dates: 26-28 June, 31 July – 2 August, 4-6 September

5-day Intermediate expedition
£410
For paddlers with a couple of seasons’ paddling under their belt, who are capable of paddling at least 20km a day for 5 consecutive days, in winds of up to F3 and swell up to 1m. Camping experience is not essential but would be strongly recommended. Possible destinations include the Inner Hebrides, Mull, Jura, the Garvellachs.
Dates: 15-19 July, 5-9 August

5-day Advanced expedition
£410
For paddlers capable of paddling 25-30km a day for 5 consecutive days, in winds of F4 or more with associated sea state, through strong tidal streams and on open crossings. Experience of paddling a loaded boat is essential. Possible destinations include the Garvellachs, Mull, west coast of Jura.
Dates: 3-7 June, 26-30 August

Custom courses & expeditions

We can offer any training, expedition, or combination of the two on dates that suit you – just contact us with your enquiry. Prices will vary slightly depending on exactly what you’re looking for, but as a guideline a 1:1 day would be £220, and a custom day for 2 people would be £160pp.
