Isle of Colonsay Explorer

The perfect size for a weekend of  exploration or you may well want to relax and take a day or two more. We meet in Oban at Sea Kayak Oban and select our sea kayaks and load them with our gear and put them on small trolleys and take them for a short walk to the Colonsay Ferry. A 2hr ferry ride often seeing dolphins or porpoises takes us to this idyllic island with its sandy beaches and rocky headlands. The singing Atlantic seal colonies & otters approach to see what we are up to and we camp on breezy headlands with short grass. We try and time our return to the ferry to get a meal at the Colonsay Hotel before the relaxing trip back to Oban.

This trip is aimed at people who can cope with swells and force 3+ winds & waves & reasonable swells and have probably had 10 days previous sea kayaking some of it in choppy conditions.
However we can take bespoke groups that are less experienced and explore  the more sheltered areas. This includes our 5 day Sea Kayak Intro that starts in Oban on a Monday & moves to Colonsay on the Wednesday.

Weekend trips meet at 2pm ish catch the 1700 ferry on a friday eve (you can get an evening meal on the ferry ) from Oban & returns on the 2005 ferry from Colonsay arriving 2225 in Oban. This is really a 3 day trip and we paddle for a few hours straight from the ferry on Colonsay to a beautiful secluded campsite/sandy beach. We spend the Saturday and Sunday exploring the island. It works quite well to catch Sunday evening meal at the Colonsay Hotel  as this is timed to finsh and catch the ferry. Cost £240 plus the passenger ferry fare.
Midweek trips catch the 17.00 on Monday  & return on the 11.55 on thursday or catch the 15.40 on Wednesday and return on the 1935 on Friday from Colonsay arriving Oban 2155.
